About Me:
For over a decade, Jacyn Joseph has been delivering his unique sounds to the ears of audiences that have been looking for a new “feel” of music. What started as hobby at the age of twelve has now evolved into the start of a solid career.

Jacyn Joseph was born April 23rd, 1984, in Queens County New York. He was very artistic as a child, more so with drawing than music. At the age of five when his parents decided to divorce, Joseph found himself falling in love with early Hip-Hop and Rock music. In school he performed in many class plays and joined the choir, but soon he was facing a problem. Since the age of two he was developing a hearing problem that would later lead to surgical implants of tubes in his ears. This was hindering his speed of learning. At an early age he wasn’t able to complete school work as did his classmates, his basic skills were far behind and his teachers assumed that he had a learning disability. While the school wanted to place him into special care programs, his parents were determined that nothing was wrong with him and came to an agreement to get him medically and educationally checked. Joseph under went numerous testing procedures which concluded that he had an unseen blockage in his ears which needed immediate attention. Finally he had the surgery and came into the beautiful world of sound, his learning picked up and he accelerated in reading and writing, math was still a major problem, but this to him he quoted, was never his favorite subject. In 1995 Joseph packed up and moved to Levittown Long Island with his mother. This is when music would play a major role in his life. During his teenage years he mostly kept to himself, being the new comer in town had its disadvantages but he was determined to make the best of it. He was normally bullied at school and was still failing most of his math based courses. Music to him was the only thing that kept him in line during that period. Instead of running with the wrong crowds and getting into trouble, Joseph decided to stick to his notepad writing up to three songs a day. He also met with Steven “Figga” Figueroa, now one of his partners and still close friend, who shared the same interest in music as he did. Figueroa really pushed Joseph to get his material out and into the public, and with this Joseph took his first steps. He enrolled himself into school talent shows winning him awards every year for “Most Original Performance, and Best in Show.” This was definitely a good confidence builder, plus it increased his fan base throughout the grades. He started recording a demo around the same time he signed up for a two year tech program for Graphic Design. This is when he met one of his present day friends and second partner, Nicky Watts. Watts was constantly creating futuristic type melodies and beat patterns, which went hand and hand with Joseph’s new style. The three of them worked sleepless hours in a studio located in Roosevelt Long Island for the following years.

In 1999 Joseph and watts gained rolls for an underground movie, Channel Zero which was written and produced by Andreaus Guilty, landing Joseph one of the lead roles as well as the top artist for the sound track. Watts had the top spot for production of the album. This was a great promotional tool for Joseph at the time. Even though it wasn’t ground breaking material, it still had a positive impact on his following. Eventually the trio went on to release all new material under the name of their newly started label, One Nation One Soul Entertainment. They would stay in the studio until 2003 where they had started production on two promotional projects consisted of a promo disc for Joseph and a compilation for five previously signed artists under their label. Joseph’s promo disc was released, the other project was stopped abruptly do to personal differences amongst the artists.

The spring of 2004 started off great for the label. Joseph and Watts had been hired to create a theme song for the New York Dragons Arena Football Team and had performed the song on April 24th 2003 at Nassau Coliseum for twenty-two thousand spectators. The team agreed to purchase the song but eventually changed minds do to a change in management. Even though the team didn’t buy the song it still gave Joseph an even greater taste of experience and more exposure. Since, Joseph has been in the studio working on new productions for future projects. He just concluded his follow up to his first promo disc titled, Pieces Left Behind. Productions on the project include, Nicky Watts, Sean Strange, FSP, Steven Figueroa, and Joseph himself. One Nation One Soul Entertainment is currently promoting the disc and is scheduled to start off a tour for Joseph in Long Island for early 2008. Joseph has also started an independent album which he hopes the label can receive distribution for. The release date has yet to be determined.
